Penne is an extruded type of pasta with cylinder –shaped pieces, invented by Giovanni Batista Capurro in 1865. Ridges on penne rigate surface make it ideal for retaining sauces on the entire surface- inside and out.
the Penne Rigate are perfect for baked pastas or seasoned with meat sauces such as pork or beef. They also go very well with sauces with a vegetable base like bell peppers, zucchini and artichokes.
